Coffee Machine Daily Cup Volume: How to Choose Capacity

Daily capacity is only half the calculation
Coffee machine specifications often state a recommended number of cups per day. That number helps compare equipment, but it does not tell you whether a queue will form during a 15-minute break. A sound capacity decision combines total daily drinks with peak dispensing demand.
Calculate a realistic daily total
Use a one-week count if possible. If no data exists, start with an estimate:
Daily cups = employees × average drinks per employee + visitor drinks + meeting and hospitality drinks.
For example, 35 employees drinking 1.5 cups each creates about 53 drinks. Add ten client drinks and the working estimate becomes 63. Tea, hot chocolate and rooibos should be included if the same machine serves them.
Measure the busiest 30 minutes
Suppose 25 of those 63 drinks are ordered between 09:30 and 10:00. A machine that takes around a minute per milk drink will struggle if it is the only service point. The solution may be a faster machine, a second outlet, simpler recipes or an instant system for the highest-volume area.
